The time gets set from phone or other sync device at each sync. There is not other way of setting it other than syncing.

So if it doesn’t reset the time with the sync I’m out of luck? In my case I changed time zones and it didn’t change

@IlliniDC Time zones are a different issue, which I haven't dealt with much.
See How do I change the time on my Fitbit device?
There is a time zone setting on phone app. From Today screen (Android, iPhone might be slightly different):
Profile pic > App Settings > Automatic time zone. If that doesn't fix it, you might try the setting just below 'Select time zone' manually. If neither of those fix it after syncing, some people used to find it worked to set time zone to something obviously wrong, sync, then set it back to correct time zone.

That happened to me once and I reset it to factory settings and it’s been fine.
