Versa 2 stuck on logo

My dads versa 2 is confirmed "set up and ready to go" by the setup wizard, it's successfully paired with the laptop, connected to the wi-fi and sync'd.

 

However as you can see below, it is stuck on the white fitbit logo.

  • The app has been force stopped and cache cleared,
  • The bluetooth has been power cycled
  • The laptop has been power cycled (and has no outstanding updates)
  • The fitbit has been put back to factory settings and set up again

But I'm still stuck on the white logo. I would understand if it was doing an update but it's not even asked me to do it.

 

I cannot for the life of me work this out. It wont even do a firmware update which baffles me even more because the latest version is 35.70.8.0

Right.......

 

By the looks of it when I removed the device from the app the 2nd time an came up which leads me to believe it was an extremely slow download from laptop to watch.

 

I've set it up via his mobile which is a pain because its 4 hours slower
