In order to sync my Versa 2 I have to open the app and start a sync. If I don't do this the Versa does not sync for days.
For instance today I noticed that the sleep data of last three days were missing.
Is there a way to sync the device automatically, at least once a day?

If by "have to open the app" you mean that you have not only closed the app but taken it out of memory instead of placing it in the background... that is the problem.
The app needs to be running to for the device to sync. Foreground or background, it doesn't matter, it just needs to be there for the device to communicate with.

If I don't scroll the display from top to bottom with the Fitbit app, it does not sync. Never, even after days, even with the app opened in foreground, I don't see the sleep info, the battery status, etc.
Previously I had a Mi Band 2 and I was able to see all the info on my phone without any manual operation. How it is possible that a 5 time more expensive device need to be sync manually???

I have been having the same issue over the last month. I keep the app opened in the background on my phone but I still have to go to the app and refresh for it to sync

Still the same problem here.
If I don't sync manually, I don't have any data, so when I don't sync the device for three days I don't see the last three days info on the app.
Moreover it is also quite difficult to sync manually and sometimes I need to repeat the operation several times.
For instance, today is Thursday, I have opened the Fitbit app (not in background) from several hours but the last data I have stored go back to the last Sunday when I manually synchronized my Fitbit Versa 2.
I have sadly to say that with my old $25 Mi band 2 I never had this kind of problems.

I just figured it out on my device! Hope this works for you. Go to Android settings and go to Adaptive Battery (if you can't find it, search it) and turn it off. Adaptive battery kills apps it doesn't think you're using much. There's probably a way to whitelist the app, but that was an immediate fix for me. Good luck

Spoke too soon, still happening. At least the Alexa app is working on the watch now
