Hello @VijayaKadiyala ,

can you please let us know what is the entity of this step count?

You might try to change the wrist placement to your non dominant wrist in the Versa settings of your smartphone Fibit app.

@VijayaKadiyala. I'm sorry for the late response. However, let me welcome you to our Fitbit Community.

Since you mentioned that your Fitbit Versa 2 is counting steps while driving, please check out this help article which explains more information about extra steps tracked while driving or riding a vehicle.

After this, monitor your watch for the next 24 hours and see if the issue gets fixed.

Keep me posted on the outcome.

I am having the same issue: hand gestures and driving will add a lot of steps... I don't think I need to have a watch that I have to constantly manually remove steps... Garmin and Apple watches don't have this issue... any clue on when this issue will be fixed? I woke up this morning with 180 steps... just by sleeping... I drive 23 miles to work and it adds over 500 steps each time... really considering getting rid of the watch... I need accuracy and not false information.

Thanks,

I have the same issue, but not with driving, while I'm writing on the steno machine for work, it is counting the hand movements as steps.  I want to keep the watch on my wrist as it is counting my heartbeat which helps with calories, but I don't want it to count steps as I'm writing.  If you can add a feature where we can physically stop it from counting steps, but all other features work during that time, that would be great.

Nothing your support has recommended has corrected the issue, and even your support accepted that this is by design since this watch is not GPS enabled then it will count steps by hand gestures... I am getting rid of this one and going with Garmin VivoActive 4, which don't have any of the reliability issues this **ahem** has... very disappointed at this Versa model... it will be my last Fitbit product I purchase since Fitbit doesn't have a fix in sight.
