Versa 2 won't open text messages

I get a notification on my Versa 2 that I have a message. I have an option to "open", but when I choose that it opens the message on my actual phone, it does not display the text message on my Versa 2

Hi there @DebbieMcR, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the difficulties you've been having to open text messages on your Versa 2, I'll be glad to help you. 

When I press open message on my watch, only that message closes, as it should. I pick up the phone, unlock the screen, the message is the next thing I see. If you press open, you are telling the Versa 2 to open the notification on the phone. If your not near the phone, don't press open. 

As a friendly reminder, please know that for text messages, name or number of the sender and the message appear. If there is a longer notifications, tap the notification to see the full message. Note that if you clear a notification from your device, the notification is removed from your phone's notification center. If you clear a notification from your phone, the notification is removed from your device.
