Versa 2 won’t receive texts

I received my versa2 yesterday and everything seems to be working fine. I have not activated everything yet however I have done all the necessary syncing and set up to receive text alerts and I have not been getting them!

i receive messenger alerts and phone calls. 
blue tooth is connected.  Notifications are ON. I have done EVERYTHING other than reinstalling
