Out of interest, does the Versa 2 count calories burned outside of logged exercise "active minutes" (e.g. when heartrate is still elevated post workout) or are the calories burned per day (outside of the logged exercise "active minutes") purely based on metrics like height/weight/age.

Versa 2 is always counting calorie burn based on your heart rate, no matter whether you happen to be in a recognized exercise session or not.  You can easily verify this yourself; watch your calorie burn for, say, 5 minutes while sitting still; then get up and walk around for 5 minutes, not necessarily strenuously, and not long enough to be counted as an exercise session.  Look at your calorie burn for those 5 minutes compared to when you were sitting still for the same time.

The same would apply after an exercise session as long as your heart rate is still elevated.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
