Versa 3 battery draining way too fast

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I had my Versa 3 for 1 year and a half. It failed in the first year of warranty (battery draining too fast) and it was replaced. The replacement unit has the same issue right now, the battery used to last 6 days, not it can't make it through a day. I want to mention that I haven't changed any settings in the watch from when the battery was lasting 6 days to now. The issue seems to be that if you leave your Versa 3 to charge for a longer period of time and don't disconnect it when it got fully charged it seems to damage the battery. Also: the customer team suggested every time to charge it on a laptop USB port. This tells me that they are aware that using a different charger could damage the watch. My watch came with just the cable and no specific charger. This means that you can use any USB charger. Fitbit tried to save money by not including the charger with the Versa 3. To me this is simple: Fitbit didn't design these watches to protect themselves when they are charged for a longer period of time. I love how these posts are closed for replies really quick so people can't express their feelings! If I invest in a smartwatch that only lasts for a year and a half then definitely something is wrong and I feel like Fitbit is trying to make money on my back. Even if I receive a discount for replacement, I can't afford to pay that amount every year or so. I don't like to be a guinea pig and test their products. I am buying a product that should work as advertised! I know for sure that I won't buy another Fitbit product again, regardless of what explanations I would get from the technical support team. Too bad, Fitbit used to be a good brand and I was proud to be a member of it!

Sorry, I wasn't aware what the reporting feature does.

Mine was doing this too for the past week.  Yesterday, the screen went black and I can't get it back on.  It's counting my steps, sleep, etc, and its syncing, but the screen is black now.

Here's an update, I have emailed the Fitbit support the text below and I got an automatic reply that they don't offer email support anymore. Too bad as this now is a safety issue.

"I had to charge the Versa3 watch a couple of days ago and when I picked it up from the charger I found it super hot (around 50 degrees C). This is a safety issue and Fitbit can't hide behind the fact that the warranty is expired. What if I wasn't around to disconnect it, would this watch catch on fire? This also reminded me of the Ionic watch that I had previously and had a similar issue and was recalled by Fitbit in the past. My Versa 3 doesn't turn on at all right now, it is a brick and I can use it as a paper weight!

I had 2 Versa 3 watches (the original one and the one that I had it replaced with during the warranty) and both of them have failed after exactly the same time and in the same manner. This denotes to me a design/manufacturing issue.

Here's how I see things: I paid for a product that was poorly designed and that failed during the warranty period. It was replaced but it failed again because of the same poor design. For me the fact that the Versa3 watch is not capable of protecting itself when the battery is fully charged denotes a bad design. If someone has to keep an eye and remove this watch from the charger exactly when it got charged to 100% and expect damages to it otherwise then this is not a product that is well designed. Also: the fact that it was always suggested by the customer care team to charge this Versa3 watch from a computer USB port tells me that it can't use any other USB chargers. This watch came just with the cable when I purchased it. If the charger is so important why didn't Fitbit consider including it in the package? In an effort to save money it was decided not to include it, I guess Now these watches are failing and the customers are paying the price.

Why do I, as a paying customer, have to cover the costs for the mistakes made in the design of the watch? I have purchased a product that has to operate as advertised. Not only that, I see all the time in the Fitbit forums a tendency to blame the user that they are using the snore detection or some different watch face and I would like to mention that I have the same settings and clock face as when my battery was lasting 6 days and I have not made any changes to the watch. Therefore I see no reason why the watch's battery would degrade.

Too bad, Fitbit used to be a good brand and I was happy to be part of it but I see no reason why after so many troubles to be part of the Fitbit family."
