Versa 3 is tracking false data while grooming

My versa 3 is having a few issues, the first is that it says i burned over 4000 calories today and most of the time i was working. I am a dog groomer and i worked on two poodles for 6-7 hours in 90° heat, and then i went on a 3 mile walk. And only made 8500 steps fot the whole day. So i cant imagine having lost that much just by working, even though its a very physically active job. I think the heat also makes my heartrate higher. But can i make an adjustment to any settings to adjust this or did i really come close to burning that much off?

Also that darn excess floors glitch is happening which is annoying 😒

Hi, @Nibbynibberson , your Versa 3 will base your calorie burn on the detected heart rate.  If you did a very physical job for 6-7 hours in high heat and then walked it is possible that you could burn quite a few extra calories.  Four thousand does sound like a lot, but as you are probably aware it takes calories to maintain your body temperature at a reasonably steady state - that’s why Arctic explorers need to take in up to 9000 calories a day in order to maintain their weight.  Exercising in heat can have a similar effect.

If you are aware that your heart rate was significantly elevated for an extended period then it sounds like your Fitbit was working as expected.  All Fitbits estimate calorie burns automatically so there is no user adjustment for this.

The “excess floors glitch” is not uncommon because the Fitbit detects floors using an internal altimeter which measures air pressure.  This can be affected by changes in the weather or gusts of wind - even a slamming door can cause a few floors climbed to be totted up.  It may reassure you to know that the Fitbit algorithms do not take into account floors climbed when estimating calories.

I hope this helps. Welcome to the forums!
