This has just happened to me as well. 18 months old so not in warranty, I can't believe Fitbit are selling expensive items which last 18 months before they literally fall apart. I now have my screen stuck on with sellotape which isn't the best to be honest but holds it in place, for now.
I think i may have to buy a garmin...

Hi there, @Lagretac. Welcome to the Community Forums. Hello, @clairec58. Thanks for stopping by. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services into consideration.
When a tracker suffers damage while under warranty, you can contact Customer Support. Discounts and replacements depend on tracker model and other factors. Nevertheless, please note the screen cannot be replaceable and/or repaired.
Before doing something to your watch, please review Availability or repair facilities/spare parts and Exclusions and Limitations.
If you have any questions regarding what is covered under the warranty you can read more about it here fitbit.com/legal/returns-and-warranty.

@Lagretac Thanks for your question about why we offered a discount towards a new Fitbit product instead of a replacement of your existing Fitbit product. Our limited warranty provides repair or replacement of products that have a defect while still in the warranty period. Your device is out of the warranty period, and therefore is not eligible for repair or replacement, but we want to offer you a discount to thank you for your loyalty to Fitbit.
For more information about our warranty, see fitbit.com/legal/returns-and-warranty.
If you have any further questions or concerns regarding the outcome of your case, please feel free to contact our team directly.
Thanks for your understanding. See you around!
