Versa 3 screen came off

With any incident, the screen for versa 3 came apart on its own. I contacted customer service, but I was told that the warranty period has expired so it’s not eligible for replacement. So should we expect fitbit products to last only a year? How is it fair to take 200 dollars for a product that literally comes apart without any reason? Why should we as customers absorb the cost for a defective products that the company manufactures?
