What is this function?
Ordered new Fitbit due to problems with old Versa 3.
Only 2 weeks on and this morning got message on watch screen again about an error and option to start core dump. What is this? When I spoke to fitbit help they didnt explain!

To better assist you, would you mind sharing with me the exact message you're receiving on your Versa 3 so I can go from there? Does it appear when you swipe left, up, down?
In the meantime, please restart your Versa 3 as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device? If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.

@Thesuisse The Sense and the Versa 3 have an app called FWdebug. You will find it on your Versa 3 by swiping to the left and the icon looks like a bug. If your Versa 3 resets, this app automatically notifies you by showing you the screen you describe. Sending a coredump enables extra debugging and bug reporting features.
