Versa 4 randomly freezing

  • After about six months my Versa 4 started to randomly freeze, I contacted Google (from whom I bought the watch), and after several unhelpful emails they  referred me to fitbit and after several suggestions and changes of watch face it seemed the only optio  was a factory reset! I was unable to do this as tjere was insufficient battery and as the watch was frozen it wouldn't charge! Thoroughly fed up I chucked it in a drawer and returned to my faithful Garmin.

A few days ago I found the fit bit, now out of battery and decided to give it another try. After resetting and reinstalling the app I wore it for all of 48 hours before it froze again!

Is there any to remedy this or is my Versa 4 a useless ornament?

Hi there, @SaraJane01. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 4 keeps freezing. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services into consideration. I will do my best to help you with this!

Is your Fitbit device still not charging? Please note that there are some issues that affect this, being which power source is used and how clean the contacts are and how well the charger is seated. If you are charging your Versa 4 on the wall socket, try using another CE certified USB adapter for low energy devices.

If you haven't done so yet, I'd recommend following the tips and recommendations provided here Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

Once you make sure that your Versa 4 is fully charged, I'd like to recommend the following steps to fix the issue with the screen:

  1. From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon at the top-left corner.
  2. Tap your Fitbit device image.
  3. Near the bottom of the page, tap Sync Now.

If the above doesn't work, please restart your Fitbit device once again as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device? Note: Restarting the device doesn’t delete any data. If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.

Thanks Marre, I managed to do a soft reset without losing anything. However it's the fact that this keeps happening with no common factor like clock faces. This means that as a watch it is unreliable, yesterday I was late meeting a friend as I thought it was 2.20, it was only when I checked the time again that I realised it had happened! I guess my main query is how to stop this happening so frequently, or do I put it back in the drawer?
