Hey all!
Just wondering if anyone has had a water resistant Versa Special? Mine broke today after my first try showering with it, they say my warranty is up so I am out of luck. They want me to just buy a new one but the special is not available and it was not actually water resistant afterall!
Has anyone had success rehabilitating it without support from Fitbit? It's in rice now, here's to hoping.

Hi @brianrobertswvu That is sad ☹ My special edition has been showered in and swum in for over a year with no problems. I didnt realise the Special Edition wasnt available atm
Good on you for trying the rice, but I doubt it will fix it, sadly. Once electronics are water damaged they rarely come back from the brink.

Extremely sad - and no, the special can only be obtained at a store. Fitbit won't even sell it on their website probably due to these known issues.
Even though my Versa Special was absolutely not water proof, Fitbit refuses to correct their manufacturing problem in my case, instead they only offer 40% for a new Fitbit. Since they don't sell the Special, they really have not given me any discernible path to resolution, and I can't imagine why I would want another one anyway.
Good for you with your great experience I guess, and thanks for the bad advice about waterlogged electronics.

Hey @brianrobertswvu
We now have two dead versas after swimming with them on at the same time.
Fitbit of course is saying that it is normal wear and tear and refuse to help.
Like you, it was our first time using them in water and we are out of warranty range.
Wouldn't the correct thing be to recall these faulty devices? Apparently Fitbit doesn't listen to their customers. Well, that or the versas are only swimproof up to one year.

I think a recall would be appropriate, I would expect that of any company that stands by their product.
Its sad, but Fitbit does not stand by the Versa, and they don't care about customer satisfaction, as their "customer service" will indicate: no service for the customer, just redirect them to the store to buy a new one.
They really just want more money, not to make good quality devices that satisfy customers (or their own advertising claims). They would slap a water resistant label on tissue paper if they thought it would increase their bottom line.
