Tried and tried to get to synch to phone. Turned it off to see if helped now I get a big red circle with an X.in it and it says Data not cleared Synch and try again. Help

Let me share with you that your Versa Lite is showing such error message because the firmware update process wasn't completed. That being said, I recommend you to learn more about how to update the firmware version of your Fitbit device with the information that's specified on this help article.
