Hi Forumers,
I just got my mom's Versa Lite and I've spend the last two days setting it up. I've restarted both my Android and the Fitbit numerous times, uninstalled/logged out/switched accounts the app countless times, and as a last resort factor reset the watch. Which means the screen now only shows the logo and the revolving text in several languages to install the app. Which I did. Again.
Then I saw the light and thought that the watch could still be paired to my mom's phone (she is not at all a techy person, she didn't even know what the charger looked like). I finally got a chance to check that today, and yes it was. I unpaired it, went through the whole cycle of turn on & off again, uninstalled & re-installed the app. No dice.
I'd think a second factory reset could do the trick. Is that an option at all at this point?

Hi, probably not necessary to do a factory reset.
The issue most likely is you have multiple watches and multiple phones with Bluetooth.
So only have one phone and one watch active during setup.
A simple procedure should suffice
Logout of Fitbit app [click profile photo, top left, scroll to bottom] Shut down watch [ Swipe left, Settings, at the bottom, Shutdown]

If it doesn't come back with what it is thats not working on what phone.
NB. Its best to setup the watch on the account and phone with which it is going to be used [to have the right permissions for everything] and make sure the phone is on the compatible phone list.

Thank you, Guy.
That's just it. There's no swiping possible on the watch after resetting. Like I said, the screen shows the logo and the text "To start, download the Fitbit app" appears, revolving in several languages. I can't shut it down, only hold the button until the screen goes black.
My phone is a Samsung J4 OS 10, which I don't see on the lists you provided.
I tried pairing the watch to another phone, but that didn't work either. Can the watch still be paired to the first phone somehow?

I presume you have installed the Fitbit app, but have you tried to add the watch in the app.
Trying to stop the message on the watch is not helping.
Part of the process of installing a watch, by adding it to the Fitbit app, is it downloads the firmware, at which point the watch will be operational.
I don't think there is anything you can do with the watch until the firmware is loaded which is what the watch is telling you. Unless I have misunderstood the situation. If the phone isn't on the list it might not work.
Try not to do factory reset, if at all possible, makes recovery more complicated and is only needed in special cases.
