My screen went black. The watch still vibrates for notifications and steps were counted when I checked my app on my phone. I tried restarting multiple times with not any changes.

Your problem could be one of the following:
1. It could be a software issue. You may be able to get around this by doing a soft reset (by holding down the left button for 8 or 9 seconds)
2. The screen uses a tiny tube lightbulb in back of the LCD, this may have burned out. The only fix in this case is to get someone who replaces phone screens (and is willing to fix Fitbit watches) to replace the whole screen.
3. The last problem would be the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the Fitbit Mainboard came undone/loose. The fix for this is get person from solution 2 (refer to above) if they are willing and get them to reconnect said cable.
