I’ve had my Versa Lite for two days now and I work in an office setting — during these last two days I’ve completed close to 11,000 steps, which is three times (possibly four) more than what I know I’ve done.
i have turned it off, factory reset it, (multiple times) — is there any other fix? I hate to think this was a huge waste of money ... I’m so disappointed.

Welcome to the Community Forums, @AndiLJ. Thanks for already troubleshooting your Versa to solve the issue with the step count.
Please check that you entered your height correctly. Since we use height to estimate your walking and running stride lengths, you may want to measure and manually adjust these values if your legs are longer or shorter than average.
Remember that the wrist trackers count steps depending on the movement of your arms, when you are driving or for example when your tracker is close to a fan. In these scenarios, your tracker counts steps due to the vibrations.
To get more information about this, check the article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?
I know you've done this, but if after taking these factors into account you still think your tracker is significantly undercounting or overcounting steps, please try a step test:
1. Restart your tracker.
2. Put your wrist-based tracker on your wrist.
3. Walk 100 steps, making sure to count a step each time one of your feet hits the ground.
4. Pause, then check your tracker to see your step count.
Give this a shot and let me know the outcome.

Thank you for getting back to me! I have tried a restart/reset several times and at the start of the day, everything seems fine and working great —
however, for the past two weeks I have been in seminars (unfortunately) and sitting for 6 hours out of the day... at the end of the day, I’ve walked 13,000 steps! (Which is not possible) ... the calories burned are usually around 2,000 ... which compared to the steps, it doesn’t match.
I will try it again, this weekend, when I’m not between meetings and I can do some trial and error with it.
will keep you posted!

Sure thing @AndiLJ. You're right about the previous test, that doesn't seems to be correct.
Let's see how this weekend goes, I'll be looking forward to your response! 😺

Ack! So I did through tour the weekend and this week at work during “a normal” work day ... some days it seemed accurate, but then the next day it was all over the place. Seems like the first two days after a reset it works great, but then just breathing seems to make it think I’m going somewhere! Lol
a new weird thing — after this last test run and reset, my data never cleared — it kept the steps it recorded prior to the reset ...
so lost! The older fitbits from 4-5 years ago seem to have been so much more accurate?!

I’m having this same problem I’ve only just purchased my versa lite for less than a week. I understand the vibrations but I will be on the couch and when I grab a glass of water it will jump 10 steps. It just keeps jumping significantly. I’ve tried the 100 step track and height. 1 time the 100 track was under which I don’t mind, but the other was over. On top of my 10 step jumps it’s like clock work is there a setting that would make this happen ?
