Versa Not Tracking Heart Rate

Fitbit Versa stopped tracking heart rate spontaneously.

The following measures have been tried:
-> Checking forum for solutions. 
-> Restarting device several times.
-> Factory reset of device.
-> Unpairing and re-pairing device.
-> Switching off device for 15min+.

The value does not show on the device or on the app, and the sensor light is always off.
The device is firm-fitting; not overly tight or loose.
Toggling the heart rate on device or in the app has no effect.

Please advise.

I’m having the exact same problem with my versa light. The sensor light at the back has completely stopped working and it no longer reads my HR or registers my sleep. I have tried restarting and other troubleshooting to no effect.
