Versa Step Counting Way Off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello! I have been going through the forums and noticing that there were a lot of individuals struggling with the Versa's counting/tracking inaccuracies. Has this been resolved yet?

I updated the preferences and dominate hand, etc. but that did not help. I have now done a factory reset and am waiting to see if that makes a difference. The tracker is giving me THOUSANDS of extra steps. As a graduate student, I spend the majority of my day sitting in a classroom. I have noticed that even after having not moved for an hour, at the 10-minute mark the watch will notify me that I only have 50 steps out of 250 left for the hour...when. I. have. not. moved. at. all. Driving also is adding a ton of extra steps. Steps are even being counted while I am sleeping (and I am not talking just a few here and there...but hundreds of steps). It is so frustrating, especially since my old Charge HR did not have any of these problems.

This product had so much potential but it is like it was pushed out before it was actually ready. I want to be in love with FitBit but I am pretty underwhelmed at the moment 😕

There is NO accuracy on the step count. You can stand in one spot and swing your arm around and it counts it as steps. You can also drive for hours in your car and you will hit your daily step goal. When I was driving from Chicago back to Michigan my fitbit was on the charger in my car and it hit my step goal. I have contacted them about this and numerous other issues (miles not correct, logging sleep when it is on the charger at night, etc) that I had with my ionic and versa and they always tell me it's all part of the algorithm. The versa is a smart watch but they are grossly misrepresenting it as a fitness tracker!!!!

Ah man. That is so sad to hear 😞 Are you sticking with the Versa or did
you return it?

I got the Versa as a Christmas gift. Over the break I was extremely active
and didn't notice anything off. However, once I got back to school, I
started noticing that it was telling me that I had hit the 10,000 goal
EVERY DAY, when I knew there was no way that was possible. So I have
noticed the tracker being consistently inaccurate for at least the last
month 😞

Hmm... weird. I think you got a faulty one, but that’s very weird. You said you factory reset it, but did you unpair it? I’m not sure what’s happening sorry, but try to get an exchange because that should be a warranty issue.

The problem is that we are not the only ones having the same issues. When you contact customer service they are no help at all and blame everything but the Fitbit. How closely do you actually monitor your stats??

I do understand, I had a problem with my Garmin a year ago. Mine’s been fine.

It may be a bad batch/batches. It is an issue that this is happening far too often!
