Versa - Steps/ Distance accuracy

My versa shows less mileage than my treadmill so I wasn't sure which was accurate but recently I did a trail walk that was marked for mileage and my fitbit showed significantly less distance. I also walked another tike with a friend and her apple watch also showed more than my fitbit. How do I fix this?

Where do you have your hands/ arms while on the treadmill?

If they are holding the guard or without movement, this could explain the issue you are having. The Versa will recognize your steps when you move your wrist/arms. So if they are holding the guard rail, or on the machine the steps might not be recognized so that the distance will also be lower as the one measured by the treadmill. 

Try having your arms moving while on the treadmill to verify if there is any difference.

I always have my arms moving, if I hold on occasionally at all it's with my
other arm. Also I have had the same problem when walking outside not
holding anything

Just to confirm: when this happens while outside, does it happens when you record an activity or it happens when you are tracking your daily stats (normal wearing) . 

If this only happens when you record an activity:
- does this appear with every activity or in one in particular?

- Does this happen when you start the recording yourself or when the activity is automatically detected?

It is when I select "walk" under exercise...it does not seem to automatically detect my activity anymore either.
