Versa adding extra steps while charging

If I charge my Versa in the middle of the day, it adds 3200 additional steps to my day. Funny enough the extra steps only show up on my dashboard but if I'm in a weekly challenge, the steps are not added.  

Does anyone else have this problem?  Is there a way for me to prevent this from happening?
