Versa battery draining fast

Hi I am having problems with the battery life .We are supposed to be encouraged to walk and exercise more but it doesn’t even last until late afternoon.I am in a lot of challenges but it’s very hard when I have to keep charging it during the day. They ask me to wear my Fitbit to bed ? Who came up with this genius idea I wonder? Certainly not someone actually using a Versa .If I wouldn’t have wonderful friends in the community I would have changed it to a different brand watch ages ago .I had different fit it’s before which I loved but this one is such a disappointment and it costs so much money too .Has anyone got the same problem or is it only my watch that seems to be a “ lemon”😬😱🥶

Hi @E.K . Have you tried restarting your Versa?  Sometimes that helps. Also, tap here for tips on extending battery life.

@E.K thank you for participating in our Fitbit Community. By the way, I'm sorry for the late response. However, I would like to follow up on the battery draining issue that your Versa is experiencing.

Does the issue persist or did it get fixed after restarting it and trying the tips that shared @SunsetRunner.

If you found her post helpful, please accept it as a solution so other users that experience the same issue can find it easier.

@Joachi I'm glad to hear that you received a replacement unit in order to get back on track. Thank you for sharing your feedback.

I'll be around if any question arises.

Mine is doing the exact same thing! Just started. Maybe since the update rolled out??? I’ve done everything they suggested, re-started, turned off auto-sync, everything and it still won’t hold a charge even 24 hours. I’m getting maybe 15 before it dies. It was fully charged at 9:30 this morning and I had to put it back on charger at 11:30 because it was already down 11% and I go to work at 3:00. It’s my primary watch as well and I need it for work. Arghh! Let me know if you find a solution.

How many hoops did you have to jump through for that?  Thanks!

I fully charged at 11:30 and turned off auto sync.  It’s now 2:06 and I just did a manual sync to check battery.  Still says 100%.  I’ll keep you posted on my results.  Hopeful but this is a pain.  No updated news or weather which I also disabled.  Ugh!

Hi nothing helped so far .It’s been playing up for months now .I use it as my main watch too .It runs out early afternoon the battery .It’s very inconvenient for me to charge it every day early afternoon because I’m walking all day when I’m working .I’m thinking of taking it back where I bought it because I paid for extra warranty.I wish I never bought this watch .

Hi Peeps,

I recently said this to another FitBit user. I was more than flamed back 'told I was wrong' and at for doing so.  That user was charging its FitBit overnight.

Google & look see charging lithium ion & other types of batteries.  Read up on & about the correct but more importantly the wrong way to charge & how to maintain their life cycle.

Under is just as destructive for any battery as overcharging.

So, do not shoot the messenger. ok?

Charging your FitBit.  Same applies to anything with a lithium ion 'any' battery in it.

I use a USB output voltage checker.  Amazon sell them.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMANKA-Multimeter-Chargers-Capacity-Banks-Black/dp/B07517ZV2Q/ref=sr_1_14?c...

I only use genuine 'Apple, Samsung' etc., USB chargers. Why?  3rd party cheap ones? The output amperage & voltage are too often not regulated. Output should be <1.5amps with <5.1v max and as your device charges? The output will 'should' drop to a trickle & maintain charge to eventually <0.01v & <0.01amps.

An unregulated charger will not sense when the device is nearing or is fully charged.  It will then still deliver >5.1<v >1.5<amp. Meaning it is overcharging. It is now a more than serious fire risk in your home.  When lithium ion batteries fail? They explode. At the same time emitting a great amount of heat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN8HcqAtDSY

Never leave anything on charge that is unchecked & out of sight.  USB chargers. When not in use? Never leave them plugged in with the power on. House fires 'people have been killed' by them.

Any FitBit. It takes 1 - 2 hours max from 100% discharge to reach 99 - 100% full charge. As soon as you see it has reached those levels?  Take it 'any device' off charge.

Overcharging lithium ion 'any' battery 'cooks' them off. They bulge.  Highly corrosive 'acid or alkaline' chemicals inside of them can start to leak out. That battery is is now but 1 step back from exploding. You can often tell when you have overcharged a devices battery. It gets more than warm to the touch. It is too when devices can, will & do pop their front/back covers & screens off.

That has happened because the battery expanded inside.

Don't believe me?  Go Google & look see.

Since it dropped 60% in less than 8 hours, I think that’s a good idea.  Thanks.

Good news!  I had a chat with Fitbit support and in less than 10 minutes, my replacement is being shipped!!!  So stoked.  It was still under warranty so no charge (less than a year old).  Almost took the 50% off upgrade deal but it didn’t include Versa 2 so stayed with the original.  If you’ve tried everything they recommend, it’s time to chat with Fitbit.  Ivy from Customer Service was amazing.  I was prepared for the worst and was so pleasantly surprised by how well they took care of me.  I’ll be keeping my Fitbit products.  Yay!

I contacted Fitbit via chat and a lovely lady named Ivy is sending me a replacement Versa and I’ve already received an email that it’s shipping (less than 30 min from chat). Mine was still under warranty. Less than a year old. I hope you give that a try. I thought I would get the run around but that didn’t happen. I’m guessing they know there’s an issue. I was super nice and they took care of it. Good luck!

Great!
Had the same experience and got a new versa, that I sold for half of the
price of a versa and made my own deal of 50% for the versa 2! And I love
it! 🙂

The same thing happened to me. My Versa was only 3 months old. I had no problems with it until the latest update. After that I suddenly had to recharge more than twice a day, about every 10 hours. My experience with Fitbit customer service from a week or so back is not good, so today I took my Fitbit back to the store where it was bought and got my money back. Garmin, here I come I guess...

I’m sorry to hear that. My story is almost identical. I finally contacted Fitbit via chat and they are sending me a replacement virtually no questions asked. Hope you figure something out. Btw, mine was under a year old so still under warranty, no charge at all!
