Versa counting way too many steps

For the past few weeks my versa (almost 2 years old) has been counting an excessive amount of steps. Today I just set it down on a table and it has counted 55,000 steps so far. Is this a hardware problem or can this be fixed with a software update? Thanks!

I've experienced a similar issue. My Fitbit says I took ~29,000 steps just before 2am, but it also has a record of me sleeping from 11:18pm-7:34am the same night. How do I fix this?
