Versa display not turning on

I bought my girlfriend a Fitbit Versa for her birthday in March of this year, on finance (but it's all paid off!).

Last week, it stopped working. The green lights at the back of the Versa are no longer flashing, and the screen is completely black. We've tried:

  • charging the Fitbit over night (to ensure it's 100%) - did nothing
  • tried restarting (by holding the left button) - did nothing
  • tried resetting (by holding left button and bottom-right button) - did nothing, but an occasional vibration.
  • tried holding all buttons - did nothing.

Every time we tried resetting by holding buttons, we tried both holding for the requested amount of time (10-15 seconds), and holding longer periods (up to 1 min). Again, neither did anything but an occasional vibration (screen still black).

I've had trouble with my Charge 2 previosly - twice (I think), which required the device to be changed.

Hi @Todai88, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums!

Thanks for your post and for the pictures that were attached, your effort troubleshooting your device before posting over here is also appreciated. Since you're able to feel a vibration on your Versa, I recommend you to try our factory reset procedure following the next steps:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

Let me know if further assistance is needed and if you have any additional questions.

Hi Ricardo,

I might not have been clear enough in my previous message, but I've quite literally followed every documented way of resetting her Fitbit, with no avail.

I've tried what you suggested, and I'm not seeing a logo, or getting any vibrations. All I'm greated with is a slightly tinged (screen turns on,  but is black) screen.

Note, attached video is a Vimeo link, and thus a third party service.

Thanks,

Joakim

Hello, I am having the same issue as Todai88.  I also tried the factory reset per you suggestion, but no screen.  This is the 2nd time my Versa has been replaced in the last year.  Any other suggestions?

My charge 2 quit working, and now my versa lite. As far I'm in concerned Fitbits are junk. I spent all that money only to use them for a couple months
