Versa has a red X

Was trying to update my versa, but a circle with a red X came on the screen. I went to shut down to restart the watch, now it won’t turn on at all even on the charger.

Hi there @Bobbyboy69, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry for the late response.

While reading your post I was wondering if below the red X there's a message saying "Data not cleared, sync & try again"? If so, this usually happens when you performed a factory reset without before unpairing the Fitbit. Usually you should unpair your Versa, forget Bluetooth and perform the factory reset. To solve this issue, try these steps in the following order:

  • Since the display is not turning on, restart your Versa.
  • Unpair your Versa from your phone's Bluetooth.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Setup your Versa again.

If you can't get started with your Versa, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article: Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

Give this a go and let me know the outcome.

Hello
There was no message with the red X. When I tried to update the watch with the new update from Fitbit, the red X then came up & disappeared but the watch never updated.

Then I turned the watch off, not a factory reset, then tried to turn it back and the watch wouldn’t turn on. So I can’t do any of the recommended steps.

I sent it in for repair under the Asurion protection plan.
