I just purchased the Versa and while I want to love it. I notice that the steps aren't recording correctly..and it is lagging. I've restarted several times, changed clock faces, and shut off. It is logging my steps but it lags and seems to be off. Any help would given would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @SouthernB3lle ,

Can you describe what you mean by lagging? The steps in the app usually lag behind the watch, because the app only updates during sync.

@WavyDavey , I mean that when I'm stepping my watch isn't logging my steps. It takes a bit before it shows. It will log the steps after several seconds but lag again.. and its not logging all my steps.

OK, so we're talking about the watch missing steps, not the phone lag.

First, try a restart using the procedure below. To be safe, do it 3 times. It should clear out any glitches.

If that doesn't work, I would take the Fitbit outside, count exactly 100 steps, and then see what the Versa shows. That will help us figure out where the problem is.

Two things may be going on here both expected.

Fitbit will not start counting a users steps until it sees 5 steps without a substantial pause  the it adds the 5 steps and starts counting.

If the user is walking and looking at the display, we have a limitation on the speed the display can be updated.

Basically the tracker can count the steps faster than the hardware limitations on how fast the numbers on the display can be updated, think of it as changed.

This is why when taking a walk, them stop, be lift the arm, the user is able to watch the steps to continue to count steps even with the user standing still. These steps where sent to the tracker seconds ago and the display is doing it's best to catch up.

In short, while walking, the display will be a couple of steps behind because of hardware limitations on how fast the display can be updated.

Try counting your steps in your head a then count out loud every other step, can you keep up. It's the same issue if timing and the ability to display or speak get enough.

- This delay will prevent a user from watching the steps in real time without a delay.

- Most phones have a faster screen refresh and update faster. The app has the ability to display the trackers data in real time and I find that the phone display had less of a refresh delay than looking at the tracker itself.

To check if the watch is truly missing steps, the user would take a walk. Let's say 100, 200, or even 500 steps, then compare the steps after the walk has been done.

How I do it:

- Set the Versa to it's walk mode and start.

- Start walking with the right foot and count every left step by one.

- when I get to 100, 150, or 250 ( I do seperat tests with all three) I then stop walking

- Now I double my count and compare to what the Versa has counted, I'm usually within 3 steps.

@Rich_Laue  I did the test and it seems to be logging my steps. I assume the problem is as you explained... You have to take 5 steps before it kicks in. It just seems sometimes that it isn't always logging correctly. I'll keep watching it and see how it goes.

Thank you the fixed my walk mode issue. Now if we could fix the noncounting of steps while pushing buggy/stroller, I'd really love my versa. I need it to count while pushing a stroller bc I walk with my 3 year old alot.
