Versa locked out

I sold my Fitbit Versa on Ebay. However, silly me forgot to remove the pin code.  I removed the device from my Fitbit account too.  I sent the code to the buyer but now the Versa is locked from "too many attempts".  I found instructions on how to do a "factory reset" but the buyer said she's tried it multiple times and it doesn't work (just restarts).

Does any one have any suggestions? Thank you.

@vlwa Only 3-button factory reset or contacting Customer Support:

  1. Press and hold all 3 buttons until Fitbit logo flashes (this may take up to 3 minutes)
  2. After Fitbit logo disappears, release the bottom right button
  3. Wait until you feel strong vibration and release the other buttons.

You may need to attempt the reset a few times to find the optimal times. Trying holding the buttons longer, as long as it's needed for the vibration to appear.

Still no joy. I've now got the Fitbit back from the buyer and I cannot reset it either. I've tried holding the buttons for all kinds of durations. Nothing seems to work. I tried to add it to the fitbit app but it asks for a code but the watch just says "unlock from phone". I've been onto fitbit support who had no clue either. Now waiting for technical support to get back in touch.

@vlwa thanks for the update. Yes, I think at this point you need to go through tech support.

I tried this several times. I held the last 2 buttons for five minutes and never got a vibrate. My fingers are sore from holding the buttons. Is there another way to factory reset?

  • This did not help me. My Versa was unlinked from my account and now I cannot add it back at all because I’m locked out, and if it’s not linked to my account, I can’t fix it. I tried restarting it and all that and still no luck. Help!
