Ever since the last app update, my watch will no longer auto recognise exercise. For my runs, I’ll always manually set the exercise but when I go for a walk, I prefer to just leave my device to automatically track. This has stopped although my steps and active minutes are all still being recognised.

Hi @A_Giraffe, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums!
Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for the details that were shared in your post. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? Is this occurring with the Walk activity only or with other exercises as well? In the meantime I receive your answers, please restart your Versa and let me know if the issue persists.
Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks for your reply. This has been happening every day since the last Fitbit app update. Basically with the lockdown, I go for a run every morning and I will manually set my run with the device with no issues
I will then go for an additional walk in the afternoon and usually just leave my watch to manually track the exercise but it won’t auto recognise. It tracks my steps and active minutes but when I sync to the app, the exercise won’t appear.

Thanks for your reply @A_Giraffe.
I appreciate the details that were shared with me. Please try the restart process that was shared on my previous post and let me know if the issue persists. Keep in mind that Fitbit devices automatically recognize and record high-movement activities through the SmartTrack feature but activities that are at least 15 minutes long without any pause. In other words, if your walking activity doesn't last at least 15 minutes or you stop walking in that time-frame to take a break, the activity will not be recognized by your device.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi thanks again for your reply.
I’ve tried restarting my device using the two button technique but it still doesn’t auto recognise.
The only thing I haven’t tried is a factory reset but I don’t really want to do that as I have no WiFi at the moment so setting up my device again through bluetooth would take too long.
Also, my walking is definitely longer than 15 minutes

You're welcome @A_Giraffe, it's a pleasure to continue assisting you.
Thanks for troubleshooting your device with me. To further investigate why your Versa 2 is not recording your Walk activity more specifically, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? Your Versa 2 never auto-recognized a Walk activity? Also, please send me a screenshot of the SmartTrack settings of your account, this way we will be able to determine the configuration of Walk activity so we can move forward. Please follow the next steps:
I'll be waiting for your reply.

The last time it auto recognised an exercise was last Friday. Here’s a screen cap of my exercise settings

My Versa recognizes only part of my walks, eg the first 40 minutes of a 80 minute hike. I’ve had a similar problem with swimming laps in the past few months where it doesn’t recognize some of my swim. Thinking it’s time to see if an Apple Watch will do a better job.
