Versa not auto-recognizing activities.

I just got upgraded to the versa from the charge hr. My versa is not auto recognizing exercise. For instance, I just went for a walk, it logged 44 mins of active minutes but it did not log as having done exercise with all the calorie burn stats. My charge hr automatically logged this info.

Hi @Aliciab807 Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new Versa. You can find more information on exercise tracking in the Manual on page 43.

Hope that helps.

Yes it has been driven by me mad for 3 days.  One day it didn’t even recognize it.  And when I tried to add it -it took steps away!   Yesterday and today it added it but I was close to an hour and It only gave me 20-25 minutes!!!  At least then I could edit the times and I could see the calories.  Although now I’m thinking it’s because it isn’t registering the heart rate properly. Today I watching it and it was all above 110. But when you look at the graph in the exercise it is all over the place.  For the last two days!!  And when I go back at other days where it is registered correctly.  The graph is more consistent. Now I know I’m keeping the same pace over all.   It is so frustrating. I don’t want to have to put it in workout mode everything I walk to get an exercise in.  And edit It after the fact.  Very annoying!

Hi unfortunately it doesn’t on page 43 there is nothing on auto tracking;(

I got my fitbit in October. It recognized exercise sporadically then in January stopped giving me active minutes even on walks. I know my steps are probably not accurate either, this is frustrating, $200 and it's a glorified watch..

Hello @BethMedsker, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Tell me, have you restarted your Versa already by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen? If so, please let us know so we can check this further and determine what we should do next.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we'll be waiting to hear from you.

Yup done that multiple times today I logged 488 active mins over 8 miles walked over 20,000 steps but no exercise of any kind

I have reset my fitbit multiple times, I have uninstalled then reinstalled the fitbit app multiple times, I have redone bluetooth multiple times. I don't feel we should have to reset our devices all the time. I had no problems with my Charge HR but wanted the upgrade for work.

Have you found a solution to this? I upgraded to a versa from the charge 2 and am finding it hasn't recognized any of my activities. Very frustrating.

Nope Fitbit even sent me a new one and that one doesn’t work either

That's unfortunate. I like the versa (for the most part) but I need it to track my activity better. What did you end up doing? I never had this problem on my charge 2.

I received a new versa but it didn’t help;( they upgraded the dashboard instead of fixing essential activity tracking functions.

Right now just trying to remember to track it myself but this should not be happening with a “top line” product

I've never found a solution.  I have had to reset my versa more than I ever should have to. I was so excited to get this one but now regret my purchase. I rarely get notifications even when my phone is in my pocket, it won't recognize exercise, and the battery only lasts 2 days.

14 mile outdoor bike ride, 8-10 miles per day of walking, etc. No auto exercise recognition in the several months of my use ... Versa does not work. Charge 2  always worked. Do I have to wear both?

Best Answer

So... Is this topic dead? Are we accepting that versa doesn't work, and manually tracking exercise? This is a huge regression in functionality!

Wearing both doesn't work, the app gets seriously confused as charge logs outdoor bike and versa logs "steps" at the same time. ... Broken! Fix, please? Also please don't tell us to reset the watch😀 the watch has no working software... It doesn't get better by resetting...

I accepted it doesn't auto-recognize exercises, I also found it had many other issues (with syncing, music-which is why I really wanted this one, etc). I returned it and went back to my Charge 2, which now I find is being weird with syncing and stuff, super frustrating. Anyways, I wonder if Fitbit corrected any of these issues on the Versa 2? Or should I look at different trackers all together. Wondering what you guys think. I guess we won't know for awhile as you can only pre-order the new one right now.

Hi Megan

The Versa is still bad. How long had you had yours before you returned it? I'm seriously thinking of doing the same. I did a 45 min aerobics work out on Monday and it didn't record it even though its supposed to after 20 mins. I did 40 mins interval training today and again it didn't record it. If I enter something manually it logs it but doesn't count it as one of my 5 a week activities. I don't get messages or emails through it either. It has been a complete waste of money for me and it wasn't cheap

My versa was recognizing exercise up until three days ago! Manually longing exercises completely defeats the purpose of wearing this Fitbit. 😟😟
