Versa not auto recognizing boxing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Question: I box with FightCamp and the first few workouts my versa auto recognized the exercise. The past two it did not. Perhaps because they were on the shorter side of workouts for time but it’s kind of annoying its not getting it since it picks up my walks with my kids. But my real question is...should I still log the exercise manually? Is that adding more calories on top of what my versa picked up. It’s getting my heart rate and my active minutes. Just not getting that dang workout posted!

Hi @sbrody116  The Versa is not really equiped to recognise boxing. What did it say you were doing the first couple of times?

You have a few options here

1.   Do nothing and let the Versa work out your Active minutes and calories burned from your Heart Rate. All thatis missi g is an exercise recorded.

2.   Enter Boxing manually after you do the exercise. The Versa will no longer use your heart rate to work out your calories or Active Minutes, but will use averages instead, so these items will possibly less accurate than if worked out on your heary rate (but it wont double things up!)

3.   Use the Workout exercise shortcut to start and stop your activity and it will be recorded as exercise but named Workout. Though you can change the name of a Workout in the app afterwards if you want. Active Minutes and Calories will be based on your Heart Rate.

Hey thanks for responding.

I understand it doesn’t know I’m boxing or some other sport. I believe it comes up as sport or workout when it’s worked in the past.
my main concern was the doubling up of calories burned. But like you said it won’t do that but instead take an average. A bit annoying but better than doubling up.

Im just curious as you why it won’t pick up the workout when it’s clearly recording high heart rates, activity minutes, and calories skyrocket for 15-25 mins. And my heart rate is obviously still elevated while I’m stretching and done.

i think my preference is to let it count my actual heart rate and mins. Just a bummer no exercise. Option 3 sounds good tho!

Could I alter the auto settings or is that silly?

Fitbits decide what you are doing as far as exercise goes by looking for various criteria. They are not able to make the deduction that as heart rate was up you must have been exercising if the other criteria are not met. I dont know what the criteria are for each catagory, but I do know that one of the necessary items for recognising bike riding is foward motion. That is why the tracker wo t (cant actually) recognice a bike ride when you are on a stationary bike.
