Versa not receiving text messages

So I got my Fitbit versa watch today. I have paired to my phone and I am getting all notifications for snapchat, instragam, wattsapp, and I get a notification when I pick up a call however I am not receiving notifications if someone texts me or is calling me (only when I answer a call). I have followed the suggestions on google and none have worked. Can anyone help please?
