Versa randomly shutting down

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have seen this topic out there numerous times with no real answer on why and how to stop it from happening. I have restarted the watch, the watch face has always been the business watch face provided by Fitbit. My watch is 14 months old and has been fine up until the last month or so. At first the shut down only happened at night but over the last few days it is constantly stopping, staying off for a few minutes and then restarting throughout the day. Extreme frustration is starting to set in. I would be grateful for a real solution not try this or try that. Thanks.

@Twoodfield, welcome to our Fitbit Community. I'm sorry to hear that your Fitbit Versa turns off and restarts by itself. I appreciate the time spent trying to get this issue resolved before contacting our forums.

Due to this, let me go ahead and forward your case to our Support team so they can investigate further and provide a solution. You will receive an email from them soon.

I'll be around if any question arises.

I've been having similar issues for the past month or so. It's beyond frustrating. So many people are experiencing similar issues, maybe it's time for them to stop dealing with these problems as if they're individual issues and admit there is something going on with the firmware. My Versa has been amazing  up until this point - I work out a lot and had come to almost depend on its functionality. Now it's essentially useless and Fitbit's response to its customer base has been awful.

I've restarted my Versa many, many times and did a factory reset based on suggestions I'd seen here, but ended up contacting Customer Support yesterday when the problems continued. Of course, they had me do yet another factor reset and of course the problems continue. I'm hesitant to contact them again because from everything I've read if you're outside of the warranty period (I've had my watch for exactly a year and two weeks) they offer you a crappy discount on a new one. Sure, your product is completely defective, many customers are having the same problems, and your response is crap - take some more of my money! Nope. So disappointing. My husband has a Garmin watch and loves it. When I spend more money on a fitness watch, it will likely go to them.

Thanks for you feedback Adryl! I received this as a Christmas present so really no choice. I was looking at Garmin watches at that time, but was gifted this one. Unfortunate. Same story across the board, amazing up until now, I work out a lot, I have become very depended on this watch, and now it is next to useless! I have yet to go the factory reset path and I am not very optimistic based yours and others feedback. Garmin here I come!

I'm having the same problem.  My Versa was great for the first year, but about a month ago, it started restarting itself multiple times a day, and the problem worsens by the day (i.e. it resets itself more frequently each day).  I first tried restarting it several times without benefit, then tried a factory reset (after reading several threads of people experiencing the same problem), but the problem continues. The factory reset seems to decrease the frequency of the random resets temporarily, but then it ramps back up to resetting a ridiculous number of times per day. Have yet to find an effective solution.

I just gave up and purchased a Garmin. They weren’t willing to replace my defective device, and I certainly wasn’t going to spend more money on another defective device. If you’re inside your warranty, it’s probably worth a try to contact customer support. I hope your experience was better than mine!

Doing the same thing, Garmin here I come! I also was just outside my warranty period and was offered  25% to purchase at their online store. With the discount the online store prices were about the same as what I found on Amazon, so really thanks for nothing. No assurances that the problem is solved in a newer device. Thanks for the reply!
