Versa software update

Will the original Fitbit Versa be getting a software update like shown on the Versa 2 video?

Hi @Baileyjak4 Which part of the Versa 2 video are you referring to? Pretty obviously the Versa wont be updated to be a complete versa 2 or there would be no reason to put out a new model!

Funny that many of the smartphone manufacturers have provided newer software to older models. For example original Samsung Galaxy Gear device was published with version of android and Gear 2 came out with tizen. Instead of saying that obviously the original Gear wont be updated to be a complete Gear 2 they updated and changed the whole operating system for the their old customers from android to tizen. After that  I have purchased six different Samsung smartwatches because I saw that I will be taken care of if I give my money to Samsung.

Apple Watches have gotten the new software. I`m currently rocking gen 0 device that gets the newest software. Apple thinks that the new hardware features will drive the sales.

I`m rather new in Fitbit as I purchased my first Versa this summer. I also purchased new leather band so I`m customer that Fitbit might want to keep as I`m person who updates devices often and uses a lot of money on accessories. I`m quite happy with my Versa as companion for iPhone. 

However if it turns out that Fitbit doesn`t care about it`s customers who they already got then I will in the future skip any future products made by Fitbit.

I know the versa would not get all the features of the versa 2, its not possible. But the software the versa 2 was running looked much better then right now and i was wondering if we would be getting that.

@Baileyjak4 Is there anything in particular you want from the V2? Just saying “software” isn’t specific. They can’t add Fitbit Pay, a faster processor, or Alexa to an older model Versa, as that is hardware-related. 

So what exactly do you want?

I think what @Baileyjak4  mentioned are the UI and some improvements in UA.

Considering the attitude of Fitbit about fixing minor bugs like cannot clear all the notifications.

@Baileyjak4  Forget about unrealistic thought on Fitbit will make your life easier.

In the versa 2 video it’s pretty obvious that the UI got refresh. For example when u swipe up you get a control centre.I just want a change up for the original versa UI and software.

It shouldn’t be that hard though.

Yes, the OS will be updated and all watches will get the update. Traditionally Fitbit does staggered updates to catch any issues.
