Versa stairs count off

My versa consistently counts the number of stairs I climb very, VERY inaccurately.  Some days it shows 45 flights when I haven't had any stairs (I live in a single story home).  Some days it's up to 135 flights, which is absolutely ridiculous.  At first I just ignored it because I wasn't actively trying to count stairs, but it occurred to me that my step count would probably be off, and my calorie count would be very inaccurate, too.  Additionally, the screen has streaks of color in it that no matter which watch face I try, it's always there.  In sunlight, it makes it really hard to read.  I've had this less than 1 year, so I'm a bit disappointed.  What can I do to fix it?

Hi @JennHeart  The counter for flights of stairs is based on an altimeter , so if it notices the air pressure changing (going down) it counts it as stairs. This is accurate as far as it goes, but weather changes also change the air pressure as does windy conditions. So the stair count is never completely accurate and in areas with lots of wind and changeable weather (like where I live) the stair count is so variable I no longer look at it (in fact I have removed the floors tile from my dashboard and Versa so it does t annoy me!). However the good news is that the stair count is NOT linked to either steps or calories so those figures should still be accurate.

As far as the lines on the screen go, if you havent already, try restarting the device several times. If that doesnt fix it please come back here.

Thanks for the help!

So the stair counter is just falsely advertised? That's disappointing.

I have restarted several times tonight and it still shows the bright lines.

No I dont think it false advertising really. Just is is an estimate rather than an exact number.

I will flag a moderator to come and help you with the lines on tje screen.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @JennHeart. I'll be happy to assist you with your Versa stairs count and lines on screen. Thank you for following @NellyG's advise.

In order to resolve these situations I would recommend factory reset your device:

On your device, open the Settings app > About Factory Reset or Clear User Data.

This will delete all the information on your device.

Thank you for the heads up @NellyG

Let me know if you  need further assistance.

Hi. I factory reset and while I don't know about the stairs issue, the screen is still malfunctioning. IMG_20190816_123017234.jpg
