Versa step data missing

I did a hike yesterday and my Fitbit App didn't properly record the data.  See the attached screen shot.  The hike alone was about 10,000 steps and 9.5km and my Versa showed over 14,000 steps but the app only shows 5,200 steps and 3.8km for the whole day.  You can see the truncated step data that coincided with the hike.  What happened here?
