Versa stops syncing when overseas?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

When I first set up my versa upon receiving it, it was syncing regularly throughout the day...etc. When I went overseas for 4 days — the data stopped syncing. Why? Only when I came back to my home country and had to actively sync it myself did the data come back. Is it because of wifi issues? But isn’t the syncing of data using Bluetooth? I’m now overseas again, and the same problem persist! I’m very frustrated because I tried force quitting, I deleted my app and restarted. I tried using my iPad to sync too — all without success. I “forgot” my versa and tried to go through the steps to set it up again — the app could detect my versa, but could not connect to the tracker. Notice on versa says “no wifi found”. So is it a wifi thing? That only when I return home back to my original wifi network that it’ll sync again? Please help. Thanks!

Sync requires bluetooth and either wi-fi or phone data.

Data travels from tracker to phone via bluetooth; then it has to get from phone to the "cloud" Fitbit database - your phone is used only as a temporary data storage en route to the cloud.  If wi-fi is not available, you should be able to sync by using phone data minutes if they are enabled; or the wifi does not have to be your own home network; other trusted wifi connections should work, provided your phone connects to them.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

@xanwad Also - your Versa should be able to store about a weeks worth of detailed data so the next time you travel just keep this in mind if you run into similar issues.

Thanks much for the info! I realised my Fitbit was abit out of sorts because it couldn’t detect any wifi. Anything went back to normal after I rebooted it! Cheers!

Unfortunately I’d be overseas for more than a week that’s why I was worried. I rebooted the versa and it’s syncing now. Yay!

@xanwad Good that it is working well now. The one week data storage is good to have so that you just have to sync only once a week to not lose any of the data.

@xanwad, I appreciate your participation in the Forums, for posting your question and for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. I'm very glad to know that after restarting your Versa, it started syncing again. thanks for keeping us updated.

Please note that your Versa should be able to sync as long as you have an internet connection and it will be able to store up to 7 days of detailed information.
