Versa text notifications and step accuracy

I'm so frustrated. My husband bought the versa for me because I like to walk alot and I drive for a living. He got it so I can see who's trying to text me unfortunately I've tried everything to make it work and nothing is working. I get my phone calls on it but no texts. Also it doesn't keep track of my steps very well. I walk 8 miles a day I know because I've used other trackers and the versa is telling me that I only walked 6.3 miles and whenever I step on my gas pedal or brake pedal it counts that as if I was walking. So frustrated.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Meggggggs !

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with your Versa which you received as a gift. I totally understand how you are feeling and I am here to help you. Thank you for letting me know that you're able to receive call notifications, but no text notifications. Usually a missing requirement is the cause and I recommend confirming the steps to set up notifications in this help article: How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device? Move on to the troubleshooting steps if the issue persists.

Factors such as device placement, dominant or non-dominant hand, and stride length affect the number of steps recorded. I recommend checking the tips to improve accuracy in this help article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?

Regarding your concern with the extra steps recorded, unfortunately it is an expected device behavior at the moment to count steps during a driving activity. For most customers, the number of extra steps added when driving isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats. If you want to remove the steps from your daily total, manually log the driving activity for the time you were in a vehicle. For more information, see How do I edit or delete Fitbit data and activities?
