Versa won't sync and loses time

I got My Fitbit Versa for Christmas 2018. It worked great until about 3 weeks ago I noticed the time was wrong. I tried to manually sync it and got the little red circle with ! in it I deleted and reinstalled the App on my phone and got it to sync.  Since then it has been getting worse. For the last 3 days I have had to reset to factory and play with it a lot after that to get it to connect and then it syncs. After abut an hour it starts losing time and will not sync. It seems like all this started after the last update. This is very frustrating. Please help. I have tried all the things I have read here in the forum. Seems Like a lot of people are having the same issue. Could there be a problem with the latest firmware??

Hi @Nate487, welcome to our Fitbit Community. I'm sorry to hear that your Fitbit Versa won't sync properly and it loses time. I totally understand how frustrated you feel about this and I appreciate the time spent trying to get this issue resolved before contacting our forums.

In order to avoid providing the same information, let me know how the factory reset was performed. Also, let me know what troubleshooting steps you have tried.

In the meantime, try the troubleshooting steps that are listed in this help article. This article may contain steps that you already tried but you can skip them and proceed with the rest. After this, monitor your watch during the next 24 hours and see if it syncs properly and doesn't lose time.

Looking forward to your response.

To do the factory reset I followed the instructions I found here. go to settings on the the versa scroll down to about and select factory reset. I have done this 3 times it is the only way I get this versa to sync after an hour it starts losing time and will not sync using everything in in the troubleshooting list you provided. After the reset I put the versa in the charging cradle and go through all the steps for adding a new device. I do not want to have to do a factory reset every day! It is very time consuming to do that just for an hour of correct time. I use the versa to track my sleep and always did a sync first thing in the morning to get my results This is no longer possible I have read on here a lot of people with this issue. I hope this can be resolved somehow. I am on a fixed income and can not afford a new tracker.

FYI, I have been having troubling syncing my Versa to my phone app and too. I called customer service and they recommended that I uninstall the fitbit app in my phone and then re-install the app - but it has not solve the problem yet. Very frustrating.

Did another factory reset this time I put the Fitbit software on my new laptop. I did the add a new device and got my versa to load onto my computer.  I got it to sync again an hour after that. waited another hour and would not sync losing time same as it does with the phone app which I had deleted and made sure it was not listed in my phones Bluetooth. Same problem 2 devices. So I guess my Versa is now Junk and not even 2years old. I have tried all the steps you have recommended. Nothing works am I supposed to do a factory reset every time I want to sync my versa!!!  for an hour or 2 of the correct time and logging my heartrate and my sleep. I think not.

I have a versa special edition and have this same problem,

I have tried uninstalling the app, and reinstalling, resetting the versa, then it connects then updates, after the update fails to connect, I too also now have a useless Versa...is this all a con like I phones etc, do we now have to buy a versa 3 ?

This is exactly the same thing I’m experiencing. It’s very frustrating. I haven’t done a factory reset yet though. But mine started about three weeks ago as well… At first it was only about two minutes slow and as the days progress it’s now 10 minutes behind.

When I try to sync my tracker and phone it says “syncing and refreshing“ but never completes... it only gets halfway and then gets stuck there. The battery dies quickly since it’s trying to sync constantly.

I did go buy the versa 3… But I haven’t opened it yet as there’s really no reason for me to buy a new one yet except for this synching, battery life and lost time situation. I just can’t stand not having the correct time! Help!!!

After letting my fitbit versa sit for four months thinking it was a dead issue. I could not get anything that was suggested to work, so I figured it was dead so I left it be for 4 months. I desided to try to try to get it to load and sync with my phone about a week ago. It paired with my phone ok and updated fine. It is now working like it did when I first got it. I still think it was a problem with the update that I got just before the issues started. All is fine now for a week so I believe they found somthing and resolved it in the 4 months I was without my fitbit. So far so good I will see if this lasts. Hope this helps anyone else that had this problem. My wifes fitbit started doing the same thing right about the same time as mine did. She bought a different smart watch that also does her blood pressure and O2 level so we have not tried to reset up her fitbit Versa.
