Versa2 WiFi Issues

My new Versa 2 seems to have some serious WiFi issues. It won't stay connected to WiFi for more than a minute or two, tops, even if it's charging and needed for updating / syncing Pandora / transferring music. From what I saw in the forums, there was a similar issue in 2018 that was resolved with an update. However, my husband's Versa 2 (about a month old) doesn't seem to have the same problem as mine. I've had Fitbit products for a long time, but this is my first experience with their smartwatches. It has been decidedly negative. I'm trying a factory reset (again), but if this doesn't work I think I'll be returning it and getting a Garmin instead.

I'm not sure why a factory reset should be tried, I would try a soft restart or a shutdown. You may want to try setting up WiFi again, or simply finish the update over Bluetooth. 

Once updated you may find WiFi works better.

Thanks for the suggestion, and I completely agree that a restart should be tried before a factory reset. I failed to mention all of the troubleshooting I had done prior to that point (restarting, disconnecting from the app, reconnecting to the app, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, restarting my phone, doing all of the above through the desktop app on my laptop, all of the above in various combinations and orders, and so on). I had completed the factory reset after calling support because my new Versa 2 was operating on a version that was two behind current one. (I was told one version behind was common but two was unheard of; I will note that customer support was very kind and easy to work with.) Updating when I first opened it and after the reset both had to be completed via bluetooth as wifi would not maintain a connection, regardless of proximity to the router. At this point a conservative estimate of the time I've sunk into trying to get this watch to function properly is roughly 4-5 hours.
