Before I go in the pool with my new Versa I would like to know if it gets water damaged is it covered under warranty.

Let's see what the fitbitFhelp docs say about this. 

Can I swim or shower with my Fitbit device?

You can swim with Flex 2, Ionic, and Versa and shower with Ace. Do not swim or shower with other Fitbit devices

Let's also look at the sales page for the ionic .

 My thought if Fitbit says it is ok to swim with, the warranty would honor their claims.
