Waterproof versa

I have had my Fitbit versa for one year and two months. I went swimming on Saturday and forgot to take my watch off, when I realized it I figured it was no big deal since it is waterproof. Well the next morning I  notice the watch was dead so I charged it, the charge only lasted a few short hours. In that time the watch would not change screens by tapping the face of the watch. I contacted Fitbit and they requested that I charge the watch to 100% and be sure to sync it a number of times so they could get the data from it. I did this, contacted them again this morning and was told they could not help me since my warranty had expired but they would offer me 25% off my next purchase. I am so upset over this. They sell a product claiming to be waterproof and I can say for certain this is sadly not the case. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Call them again.  When I called a third time I got 40% discount.  But I agree they are NOT waterproof!  No more water for me!
