Did you mean:

We need a statement about the SpO2 sensor. Enough with the silence!

What is going on. Why are you ignoring your customers demanding to know about this sensor that you still list under specs yet was never activated???

Do you really expect people to support your future products this way?

Now they claim on a reply via Twitter than only the charge 3 has the sensor... This is laughable Screenshot_20190628_191906_com.android.chrome.jpg

I've just read many of the forum entries about the SpO2.  I bought the Versa 2 for the functionality.  I guess it's supposed to be used in the sleep score.   However, I'm hoping the SpO2 data will be collect, displayed as a graph like the heart rate, and that it's available for download.

I wonder if the SpO2 red and infrared sensors eat up a lot of battery power.  So maybe to save power, they only collect during sleep.  In that case, displaying the median, average, max, min, 1st and 3rd quartile in a Box chart along with the sleep data might a very good way to display it.

I suspect that the Sp02 doesn't change much, which means it's an uninteresting graph to most people.

Given all of that, it would be nice to have an installable app that would run in the background to collect the data.  Then at least the background app can show that the battery usage is high, but still allow the advertised SpO2 functionality to still be available.  I'm thinking about looking into the API to see if the functionality is available and wondering how difficult it is to write a straight forward app that would just display the current Sp02 data entries (realizing it might be a calculation based on the sensor info).

The good news it's really easy to create an app through the FitBit studio.  It's a javascript app that is modeled after node.js with convention directories for widget and support for svg and css.

The bad news is that the SpO2 data is not exposed through the API, so unless there's some serious document inspection or until the API documents are up to date there isn't a way to get it.

My suspicion is that the classes to import are there, but not advertised.  Therefore mortals like us (aka non-fitbit developers), can't program it.

Hi @SunsetRunner and @Gabro, good to see you around.

During the Versa 2 press release (here), it was mentioned that this is coming soon.

Estimated Oxygen Variation Graph : Coming soon, this graph will provide users with an estimate of the variability of oxygen levels in their bloodstream. The data is derived from a combination of the red and infrared sensors on the back of your device. Being aware of short-term variations in the oxygen levels in your bloodstream may indicate variations in your breathing during sleep.

The Estimated Oxygen Variation Graph will, no doubt, be hidden under some obscure tile behind the pay wall, just like the sleeping heart rate graph currently is, making it difficult to see how it correlates to the various sleep stages. 😆
