Hi,
I received my new fitbit Versa. I am a light fitness user and some smartwatch features just have to work. Two of these is the control of the music playing on my phone and weather information. My phone is a Pixel 2.
I paired the watch as 'Versa (classic)', however the controls of the music are just not reliable. It works one time when I set the 'output' to my phone on the watch. After I stop and restart the music on my phone (Spotify), the watch just tells me I should start playing something on my phone. No way to get this working other than setting it up again. It also breaks in all sorts of other scenarios. I have a Pebble Time and it is working there. Reliably.
The weather app does not show any location search results on the phone. The watch says it does not have a location. The fitbit app has access to the location.
I will probably return the watch. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something (3rd party apps?).
The hardware is great! I will buy one of these once these things have been ironed out.

Music control seems to be a bit flaky on the Versa at the moment, there's another thread about that here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa/Music-controls-issue/m-p/2644939
Do you have location enabled in your phone for the Weather app? I'd imagine if the app can't pull a location from the phone, then it would give you an error like the one you're getting.

I have location enabled for fitbit. I tried all sorts of things. Factory resets, both apps open at the same time, ...
I think it's safe to say that this is also just broken on the Pixel 2.
