Why only Alexa?

Fitbits platform should be neutral for all users. The versa 2 has Alexa built in, so what about the many users who use the Google Assistant?  A fitness watch is a tool which should be neutral. Either have access to both assistants, or none. Why alienate an entire group of people?

I doubt Fitbit was trying to play favorites.  It's not feasible to add everything all at once, just as they cannot add support for every streaming music service.  These all take time and money.  If Fitbits waits to get every service available, there would be much longer wait between products and they would have to cost much more.  If you want something with neither, feel free to buy the original Versa.

I personally do not agree with the all-or-nothing philosophy.  I don't boycott a restaurant for serving Coke but not Pepsi or vice versa, but perhaps you do.  So there are choices of what to buy.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I agree with the concept of your analogy but a person wouldn't be tied into
coke or Pepsi. However people are tied into ecosystems. If you use Apple
you're tied into that system. Likewise with Android/Google and or Amazon.
This is the reason many smart home products come with both Alexa or Google
Assistant.
