iPhone text notifications not working

Had my versa 2 days now and love it except I’m not receiving text notifications (or messenger or WhatsApp but I’m not worried about those right now). My versa vibrates for calls and snapchat but no texts. I’ve tried rebooting, etc but no joy. I have an iPhone 6S

With my 2 month old Versa, I've had a Bluetooth connection problem for almost 2 weeks. My Versa no longer receives notifications for texts, calendar events or any apps, although I do receive phone notifications (iOS). On 3 separate occasions in the last 2 weeks, I discussed this issue with customer support, changed settings, reset Versa to factory defaults and more. I requested a replacement Versa as I have spent more than 4 hours with them. AT the end of the last call, I was told this is a Fitbit app problem (a software problem). That's why Fitbit won't replace my Versa, I'm told. If this was a known problem (with Versa & Ionic), why wasn't I told at the beginning of my contact with customer support? Maybe I should have purchased my watch from another manufacturer... Disappointing

Well that sounds depressing. I’ve just deleted the app, reset my watch to factory settings but I don’t know if it’s worked yet (temporarily or otherwise)
Come on Fitbit if it’s an app problem sort it out please!

Hey guys, @Carmen1212 and @Pismo311, I hope you are doin' fine! I appreciate the time you have taken to try some tips to fix this not getting text notifications issue on your Versa, and also, for contacting our Support team. If you both are using an iOS device, let me tell you that there is a known inconvenience with them and the notifications, after you update to iOS 12. Our team is aware of this and working towards a solution, so please be patient in the meantime.

I will appreciate your time and patience!

Woohoo I actually got one text, 2 calls and one email notification today (but that was before 9:30am and then I guess my versa shut up shop for the rest of the day)

please hurry up fitbit and sort this problem

Mine only worked the first two days then quit. So disappointing.

I hope they get this fixed very soon.

I have had mine now for 2 months, and love it except for that.

Heydy,

I've had no problems with notifications with my Versa prior to 11/26/2018. I had owned a Charge 2 prior to obtaining the Versa. I am technically very competent and understand the app and the process thoroughly.

When this first occurred on 11/26/2018, I was already on iOS 12.0x (I receive only phone notifications, although other notifications are enabled). I spoke with customer support (50 minutes) on 11/27/2018 and went through a series of tests, resets, etc., all to no avail. It was recommended to update the iOS to 12.1. I performed the update on 11/28/2018, and contacted customer support (40 minutes) again. Went through all kinds of settings, resets, reboots and much more, but there were no improvements to the notifications. I was then told this is a problem with the FitBit app and iOS 12.x. My final call to customer support was 12/3/2018 (1 hr. 25 minutes) and we reset everything, including factory defaults, then the FitBit update, and going through all the settings. There has been no improvement since 11/26/2018 and I do not receive notifications for calendar events, text messages and several apps.

I requested a replacement Versa and was told it would likely have the same problem as this is a bug in the FitBit app. I would expect FitBit to test and retest their app for compatibility prior to making an update available to the public. This problem is a major inconvenience. Last, I asked if after the app is fixed (hopefully it will be one day), if I can be notified via email, and was told no. This isn't fair to your customers and I shouldn't have to continually check if the FitBit app has been updated.

I appreciate your response but I don’t think it’s right that Fitbit are knowingly selling their product when they know that all features advertised do not actually work - I.e not fit for purpose. Also if this has been a problem for some time why is it still a problem? Other Apps seem to have their glitches sorted pretty quickly and this sounds like it’s been months - how long are we going to have to wait because if it’s not soon I’d like to know so I can return my versa and switch to a product that works? Thanks

Well my notifications seem to be (mostly) working now hurrah! I just hope it’s not temporary.. I don’t seem to get any and then suddenly something seems to give my versa a nudge and lots come through together - I appreciate that obviously you need to be near the phone (which I am) but hey ho better late than never!

(Fingers crossed I haven’t jinxed it though)

Still notification free here in Tucson. Looks like I got the app update. Still no joy. Reset the watch. Nope. When I go in the app to turn on all day sync and/or check which notifications are turned on it tries to connect to bluetooth. Well. IT'S ALREADY CONNECTED TO BLUETOOTH! Then it times out. This has been going on for weeks.

-sigh-

Dear Fitbit. Please send me an Apple Watch. Between you and Apple you can't seem to figure out the interface between iOS and the Fitbit app with any consistency. It's probably a conspiracy by Apple to get me to switch. They are very close to succeeding.

FYI, I'm on an iPhone XR with iOS 12.1.2

OK, this worked. It so great to have my notifications back! Now. To complain. This is completely NOT intuitive! I'm surprised I didn't have to stand on one foot at one point. I know a lot of people are frustrated by this issue. Probably not as much as Fitbit! Apple is famous for not playing nice with non Apple products. Still. This was a hassle, and I love tech! Can't imagine what a nightmare this is like for non tech peeps.

  1. Unpair (remove) Versa from your phone's bluetooth settings
  2. Uninstall the Fitbit mobile app
  3. Reboot your phone and install Fitbit mobile app
  4. Reboot your Versa by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until Fitbit logo flashes
  5. Login to Fitbit mobile app
  6. Grant all permissions incl pairing
  7. Make sure Fitbit Notifications are enabled in your phone Settings. If they are switch them off, sync, switch them back ON, and sync again.
  8. Set up all the notifications in the Fitbit mobile app and sync.

Does Fitbit have an update on when this will be fixed??

Really frustrating when I chose to stick with Fitbit over upgrading to an Apple Watch.

We should be given a time estimate when this was fixed.

I have an iPhoneX with 12.1.2. I was receiving text notifications just fine up until a week ago. Just purchased the Fitbit Versa on 12/19.

I’m in an iPhone 6s and my notifications had started working until I did an iOS update. Then it took a couple of days for them all to gradually start up again.

Check that you have notifications switched on (on the settings on your watch - I also somehow managed to switch them off when wearing a thick jumper and coat with thick sleeves)
