must have app open

I have a Motorola z3 play.  I set everything up correctly.  In bluetooth settings it shows versa 2.  But I realized today it only shows versa 2 in my bluetooth settings if I have the app open on my phone.  It can be running in the background but none the less it must be open.  When I close the app it disappears from the bluetooth settings.

Also phone calls show when somebody calls my phone on the watch.  But only if I have the app open or running in the background.  That takes some of the ram and battery I would like to save.  My other company watch was the same way.  Always had to have the app open.  And if the app was closed or I forgot to open the app before I left the house no notifications.

Why does the app need to be open all the time?

Hi @KJSS , in order to function optimally, the Fitbit app needs to be on the background all the time. In the Fitbit app you have two settings that need the app to be open all the time: "continuous synchronization" and "stay always connected". These two options take care of a proper functioning app and even when you have been outside BT range of your phone for a while. When you're within BT range again, it automatically recognizes that and syncs your watch with the app. If you're worried about your battery, clear the cache of the Fitbit once a week. regards kuzibri
