It is absolutely REDICULOUS that you have to have an internet connection to change watch faces!!!!! Poor technology on the part of fitbit. So disappointed this Versa will be my last fitbit purchase definitely going back to Samsung Galaxy, worth the extra money for the ability to control my watch without internet and create my own watch faces.

@SunsetRunner you mention a good cellular signal this signal will be providing your internet connection.
When I went to the page in the app with the clock faces. then turn off all Internet. this is what I see.

I don’t understand, @CandiPaige1. Just how do you expect to access all the watch faces available if not via the Internet? There are too many to load them all to your Versa. And new watch faces are frequently made available as the developers and third party programmers release them.

Do you want all of the watch faces to be stored locally on your phone?
As for the ability to create your own watch faces only 20 watch faces where developed by fitbit, the rest of the 700 or so watch faces where designed by users .

Hi, I can change my watch faces without an internet connection at all. Just go to Clock faces, press it and after that press, if you want another clock face, "All clocks" and search for the one you like the best. Press it and choose "install", that's all thats' needed. Did this myself a lot of times without any problems, only sometimes it will take some time before the installation is completed.

If I may, I’d like to add one more thing, I just experimented with my iPhone 6 which is linked to my Versa. I was indeed able use the iPhone Fitbit app to change the clock face when the WiFi was off ... as long as I had a good cellular signal.
Edit - WiFi and cellular connections both take you to the Internet. Without one or the other, you may not change the clock face.

@CandiPaige1 Soon you will not be able to do anything without internet connection what with everything moving towards cloud computing and so on. Even your laptop will have everything in the cloud. Having said that, @Rich_Laue is right. One needs internet connection for changing clockfaces, loading apps, syncing etc. If you do not use wifi on the phone, you're using your wireless network.

Hi @Rich_Laue. Your phone is an android. Mine is an iPad. I’m wondering if the difference lies there? I’ve had my WiFi off since last night. This morning I was successfully able to change my clock face and send it to my Versa while connected to Sprint LTE with 2 out of 4 bars. Technology sure can be tricky.

Yes @SunsetRunner that LTE says that your phone has Internet connection and would be why the clock could be updated.

@Rich_Laue - Maybe, but that’s not how the Sprint tech explained it to me. LTE is a Sprint network, similar to 3G or 4G. If I want to connect to WiFi, I have to do that manually.
I found this:
When describing smartphone data networks, you commonly hear the terms 3G, 4G, and LTE. This refers to the generation of network technology. The third generation network, known as 3G, is the oldest technology of the group. 4G is the fourth generation data network and LTE stands for Long Term Evolution.

The two things are separate? The original post mentioned the need for an internet connection to change watch faces on the versa? This is correct, be it whilst connected to a Wifi network or cellular network... Both provide an internet connection.
I used to have a Samsung Gear S3 watch and you could download a number of watch faces onto the watch itself, and change whenever you wanted WITHOUT the need for any connection. I believe this is the difference being referred to.

@SunsetRunner - talk about me not seeing the Forrest for the trees! You are correct. Whether WiFi or cellular, both are roads to internet. Thanks for stepping in!

Considering on my, now old in comparison to their new watches, I could change my watch faces on the smartwatch itself. I would say my Versa fails in comparison. Not to mention there still isn't even a separate location to find them on their app. The watch takes FOREVER to change watchfaces and to sync to my phone. Not to mention having to go to an external website to enter a code to obtain already purchased watchfaces, is absolutely ridiculous. If anyone actually is satisfied with their Versa, they've never had a decent smartwatch.

I have a ton more watchfaces on my Samsung and they're all loaded on the watch. I guess it's too much to expect the same from Fitbit.
