Hi @SunsetRunner , I can indeed only speek for myself and yes, the Versa 2 is IMO very accurate and has an amazing battery life - 7 days on one charge. Steps, sleep, calories, etc are in accordance with the Versa 1 which I've had for one year. Hope this helps, regards kuzibri

@SunsetRunner   I have been a Fitbit user for many years, going back to only torso worn trackers and before the phone app existed.  I think I speak from experience.  I will share my thoughts from personal experience and by helping others.

  • If you are actually walking or running, the steps are very accurate.  If you have a job or hobby that involves a lot of arm movement, step count will be inaccurate.  For example, my hair stylist gave up on her Fitbit because her job involves too much arm movement.
  • I see a lot of threads about counting steps in a car, being in a bus, etc.  I must have great suspension, because I never get steps while driving.  But once I got an auto-recognized bike ride while driving, but only for part of the trip.
  • Users who are really into fitness complain about the calorie burn algorithm.  Fitbit uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to calculate basal metabolic rate.  That is an equation that is more for the masses.  It doesn't take percent body fat into account.  The calorie burn will be off if you have a higher percent muscle mass and a lower percent body fat.
  • I have lived in the same house for 30 years, same flights of stairs.  My torso trackers were always correct.  I have used five wrist worn trackers that count stairs.  My honest opinion is that the floor counting is about 75% accurate with the Versa 2, similar to Fitbit's other wrist trackers.
  • Please, please, please make sure your phone is compatible.  See this Help article .  This one is always the most up to date.
  • Users who expect Fitbit's to be scientific instruments are often disappointed.  These are not laboratory grade, scientific instruments.  They are trackers, with limitations.
  • Threads come up from time to time about GPS accuracy.  Sometimes they can be explained by limitations in GPS tracking for everyone, even the military -- things like Fitbit said my distance was 10.2 miles, but MapMy Run says it is 10.4 miles.  Sometimes bugs arise that make GPS distances WAY off.  Comes and goes.
  • My sleep tracking is very accurate.
  • I find that my heart rate tracking is off at faster heart rates.  Sometimes by 20 beats per minute.  I know how to put my finger on my pulse.

A little wordy, but honest.

Your answer gives me the impression that you are you inclining that my post is not honest.

@SunsetRunner  Not in the least.  Users who see the Community Council logo might think that we are paid by Fitbit (we are not) or that we are expected to toe a line laid down by Fitbit.  All trackers, including Fitbits, have limitations.  I have no problem describing honest limitations of this technology.

hi @LZeeW , I also do not have limitations regarding this issue. Maybe the difference in our experiences are caused by that fact that you use iOS and I use Android. The findings that I posted are IMO clear/honest and I'm also a long time user of Fitbit devices. I  compared the accuracy of my Fitbit Versa 2 with it's predecessor and they match totally. Of course all of these devices have their limitations, but being a heavy user, I did not find any inaccuracies untill now. Regards kuzibri

None of us can say for certain how accurate the Versa is.  Most smartwatches are within a ballpark range of accuracy but as far as true accuracy, probably not as accurate as we might think.  When I measure my versa against my Samsung S2, they are similar at times and other times way far apart.  I have also measured it against my GF's Apple watch.  Again similar at times, far apart other times.

I have also measured the Versa heart sensor against a medical grade heart sensor and though it is close much of the time, there can be times when it is far off.

The overall fitness readings are meant to give you a good estimate and ballpark of where you are at and generally the Versa does a good job but as far as true accuracy, probably not as much as most people think.

My dear wife bought me a Versa 2 for my birthday. It is EXCEPTIONALLY inaccurate (heartbeat and step count). EX: #1) I took a nap yesterday afternoon. I feel asleep for about two hours. When I woke up, my step count had gone up 943 steps. (THAT'S sleep walking!)  #2) I went to sleep around 8:30 last night. My step count was around 8500. I woke up around 11, and the watch gave me a notice that I'd reached my goal of 10,000 steps for the day! (I guess I was tossing and turning a lot while I slept?)  #3) I went to wash my car this AM. I put the Versa on the charger while I was gone. I came back two hours later, removed the device from the charger, and saw that my pulse was at 103: I hadn't even put the device on yet!

Too bad: I really like some of the features. Now I gotta figure out how I'm gonna explain to my wife why I'm no longer wearing the device!

I find that the mileage is relatively accurate but the steps are not.  Today it indicates I walked 15747 steps and 5.93 miles.  15747 X 30 Inches / 12 = 39367 Feet / 5280 Feet per Mile = 7.5 miles

I just got Versa 2 and gave my Charge 3 to my boyfriend.  I'm noticing the inaccuracy in Versa 2 as well compared to Charge 3.  I just went up and down the stairs in my house and Versa 2 still says 0 stairs.  I know I had to come down stairs this morning after waking up for me to be downstairs and that didn't get recorded either.  At the end of the day, the number of steps I've taken seems to be a lot less using Versa 2 especially after an hour on the treadmill.  Oh and my 1 hour on the treadmill where heart beat was registered at 140 at some point, didn't show up as me having exercised for the day.
