I find it staggering that my Versa 4 can't do something as simple and efficient as Spotify control - almost any other smart watch out there offers this, and it completes the build quality as fitbit's tracking is, for me, second to none. It seems a huge omission, and it's genuinely making me think as to whether I pass my Versa on and go and buy a Garmin or something equivalent

I just bought a Sense 2 yesterday without doing much research, because I loved the Sense and assumed that the new Sense 2 would be better and an upgrade. The fact that they’ve taken away customization options and third party apps is so close minded, and a step in the wrong direction for the progression of the Fitbit watch brand. Why am I paying substantially more money for a product that has less than the older version?

I have started a return of my sense2 due to lack of apps.  Very misleading.

PLEASE MAKE THE BITMOJI CLOCK FACE FOR VERSA 4!!!!
I’ve had my Versa 2 for about 3-4 years (had a replacement one in that time) and LOVED it because I could have my Bitmoji as a clock face! I enjoyed seeing my little person change every hour of the day, or whenever I started moving around. Like a little companion always by my side.

I am so upset it’s not supported for the Versa 3 or 4, as the heart rate function of my Versa 2 stopped working this morning, so I’m off to the store tomorrow to get an upgrade to Versa 4.

Please consider creating this Bitmoji clock face, I know many users would love to have it!

So, this "suggestion" was opened on 1 October 2022. On 4 October, it was "Reviewed by a Moderator" and the note that "If this suggestion receives votes from other customers and gains popularity, it will be shared internally with various teams at Fitbit."

It has 1,841 votes.  There are over 540 comments on this thread.

Apparently, after eight months, that still doesn't count as enough votes or popularity.

If you haven't bought a Fitbit yet, don't. If you have, and it's within the window during which you can return it, do so. Fitbit has shown that they do NOT care about their customers.  Does anyone at Fitbit still pay attention to this forum?  Or were they all fired when Google took over?

This is 3rd Fitbit I've had. As I have been working up the ranks starting with Charge 3. Lasted barely over warranty & the face went off completely but I could still get info off app. A friend got her another type watch. She gave me her Charge 5 which screen fine but she dropped & broke 1 side where band latches. So for a while it was in my shoe. So I got tired of that. My mom, friend & I all have OTC $ from our ins. co.  So, I ordered Versa 4 & came today. So we will see how long this one holds up. So far, I had mine barely over yr so warranty didn't cover. Same with friends barely over a yr & Fitbit offered both of us 30% discount for another one but unfortunately the discount can't be combined with any other discounts (ex.Ours came from health ins). So far, I'm not impressed.

My family have owned a dozen or  more fitbit devices.  We have loved the ecosystem and primarily used it to track blood sugars for our Type 1 child using custom apps.  My versa 2 died so I just purchased a new versa 4 to discover that Fitbit has stripped away many of the features that we use.  Digging into the popular watch faces that support following Type 1/Dexcom/CGM watchfaces it looks like the developers are all moving to other ecosystems (Garmin, Samsung, etc) since Fitbit won't even release a SDK for the Versa 4/Sense 2 and they are tired of waiting.  Looks like you have alienated an entire segment of the market that have loyalty used your devices for years.

Additionally not being able to control Spotify or a couple of other nifty apps that I used daily I'm wondering how in the world Fitbit thinks this is a good idea.  If you want to move everyone to the Pixel watch that's fine, but don't dumb down existing product lines and continue to sell them (at the same price) and think you won't end up with egg on your face.  Either kill Fitbit/Versa/Sense off entirely OR LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS AND ACTUALLY SUPPORT THE DEVICES YOU SELL.

I would like to add my Starbucks card to my versa 4. I have a versa 2, but it doesn't take my bank. Versa 4 takes my bank but not my starbucks card. I don't want to carry to watches.

@Zelda2  but you can't. I had the same thought but you can only have 1 versa on your fitbit app. It's insane

Please add the ability for 3rd party apps on the versa 4. I have the Versa 3 and it had this ability. It's mind-blowing that the newer version of the watch has less features and less functionality than the previous version. I loved my Versa 3 and I will be returning my Versa 4 until third party apps have been added.

Hi all, I don't know if it's worth anyone's time to add to this thread
because it's clear that no one is really paying attention. I'm sure
there's a moderator checking out to make sure nothing inappropriate or
against their ToS is being said, but that's about it.

There are other models that still support 3rd party apps and I'm glad I
gave those as gifts last year instead of these because it would have been
embarrassing. I'm using a 4 1/2 year old FitBit as opposed to the Sense 2
because it has more features which is kind of mind-boggling.

I think I'll be jumping ship when I decide to buy another smartwatch
because there's been plenty of chatter but ZERO action even though we were
told there would be.

Very disappointed with the Versa 4. My charge 5 died and friends raved about the Versa 2. I liked the style of the 4 better, then realized that it only has a fraction of the functionality of the Versa 2. No 3rd party apps, was really interested in Spotify and exploring other options to tailor it to my liking, but low and behold it is just a Charge 5 with a bigger display. Not what I was hoping for in an "upgrade".

I am very happy with the Sense 2, but I would like to stress how important it would be to restore the ability to install 3rd party apps on the Sense 2 as it was possible the previous versions of the watch. Fiton use to be available and this is my training platform. I am very disappointed that I can’t connect my watch anymore. Fiton has my favourites instructors, trainings, and meal plan, so I don’t want to switch to another platform surch has the one offered by Fitbit that is more than twice the price annually. I am pressing the team to allo 3rd party apps as soon as possible! It’s been too long already.

Apparently, I asked one of the Fitbit members, and they said that it was NOT Google’s idea to not add music controls or no 3rd party apps to the Sense 2 and Versa 4, it was actually decided before Google came by.

If it’s not Google’s idea, could it be Apple or Garmin’s idea?

I also wonder why this decision was taken and by whom. Apparently, if we support this idea posted in the Feature Suggestions board by adding a vote… that way our developers can take it into consideration for future improvements. Let’s hope that it can change.

@asiayeah I don’t know about that, but IDK if that member was telling the truth.

There is 0 chance that it was not googles idea. They run Fitbit now, they are the ones who are forcing everyone to have a Gmail account to sign in, they are the ones who removed all the features that my wife and family have been using for years like Fitbit bingo. they are the ones changing from Fitbit OS to wear OS, this is not apple or Garman this is all GOOGLE. they have, I purchased 2-pixel watches since I was duped into the versa 4 and found out it was a shell with no features. and my wife and I can't stand not having a battery last more than 18 hrs. all we want is our Spotify and the ability to download songs so we can run without our phones ...

I really really did not want to purchase apple watches because we love or loved Fitbit for many years. but we are being forced to choose.

Stepping Up

I felt really bad that the Versa 4 did not have the functionality of the Versa 2. I stepped up from a Charge 5 that had died abd was looking forward to more stuff. Since I do use it for mainly exercise tracking there are more choices, so that is a positive. But going forward I will certainly look at other options for a true Smart Watch, not just a "really stylish tracker." Ifthe Pixel watch had 6 day battery life I may have splurged, but having to charge every day is just silly.

new versa 4 - supremely disappointing compared to versa 3.  there are a million other devices out there that do so much more...i think its time to switch.

I recently got a Versa 4 and I am highly disappointed in it. All the other Versa generations had the ability to connect with Spotify. I'm not asking to store or even play music on the watch but I do want to be able to pause/skip/rewind from my watch. How is it a newer model has less features then the older model. I didn't go with a cheaper model like a Inspire because I specifically wanted to be able to control my music. Definitely considering returning and getting my money back. Big Big disappointment. Maybe I will just get the new apple watch.

Please allow 3rd party apps. Very disappointed that I spent the money on the new versa 4 and I could do more with my versa 2 than I am able to with the newer version. if this doesn't change I will never by a fitbit again. How does this happen?! With technology it should be advancing with each new device, not downgrading!

TMS86

Also, my versa 2 died outside of warranty and that is the reason I needed something new, considered getting a Samsung watch but this seemed like a better choice as I thought same apps would be avail as previously and the battery life on versa was better in reviews.

Restore all 3rd party app functions on versa 4 as were on previous versions.
